The story happens in a dark dystopian world under the watch of a big bright moon in the forever night sky (similar to the ""big brother"" in the novel 1984, but ours is a moon). Everyone here works for a company called The Koretechs, which is a pun for the “Cortex”, part of the human brain. The main character, Noah (who is actually a neuron cell), is an electrician (which is like a neuron generating electric pulses in the brain) living in a repeated life who comes to realize the world he lives in is a lie, and he gets out (of the brain) while finding out the truth about himself and this world. Electricians like Noah and Aaron (the character replaced by Noah) who are neuron cells look the same and all work at the Koretechs (cortex) to produce electricity. They have a very short life span, so they get replaced and refreshed easily. When they die they are sent up to the moon so the moon is like the concept of afterlife for them. And the “sky” is black because it is covered in wires that transports electricity. Noah finds out the truth by slowly noticing the eeriness in this world, including receiving messages from a strange source, realizing that he has replaced Aaron, seeing glitches everywhere…etc. In the end he logged in as “the first neuron” into the system and the machine shows him the truth about everything.
